Coronavirus has shaken the world. None of the countries got enough time to understand what it is. Spreading like a forest fire, the governments of different countries imposed nationwide lockdown and this was the best possible solution for the first few weeks. It has become a battle between the Covid19 and the humankind.
The lockdown period has given a lot of free time to us as well which we never thought of.
Many people took this pandemic as an opportunity to make it fun. During the lockdown, families are together. People are cleaning their homes, trying out new dishes, dusting off their musical instruments, and so on. I always wanted to find out some quality time for my family, kids, and to pursue my hobbies.
However many of us had an opportunity to work from home that we used to do from the office before the Covid19 outbreak. The same job is now not an easy one anymore because of hell lot of distractions as your house was never your workplace before.
Getting things done in a smart and productive way is necessary so that you can avoid a mental toll on your health. Here are some tricks to feel powerful and remain productive during the pandemic.
Make a routine
“Routine, in an intelligent man, is a sign of ambition.”
Time runs and we need to keep a track of it. Otherwise, every evening would be a surprise with a question, “Where the hell my day went?”. Make sure that you get up and go to bed at the same time daily. Add a strict block of working time to your schedule. Your routine must include a slot for all your daily activities, especially for meals and exercise. It is best to set your expectations and share the same expectations with the family/roommates so that no one gets unexpected surprises.
Keep yourself moving
Exercise is the favorite thing for procrastination for most of the people. Because almost everything is done from home due to pandemic; kids have online classes; most of the companies are allowing employees to work from home, people are taking up their inertia to the next level. Make sure you are moving your body enough so that it doesn’t complain back. Some good ideas to keep yourself motivated for that is to download health apps; set alarm to take water breaks and perform the sitting exercise, yoga, dance, cardio, and aerobics. If a walk is a possible thing in your geographical location, it is the best replacement for your gym routine.
Learn something new
The well-known investor Mark Cuban has mentioned in one of his recent interviews that “The first question every interviewer is going to ask you is: 'What did you learn during the pandemic of 2020? What skills did you add during the pandemic of 2020?'” Learning something new or pursuing your hobby is such a good mental exercise. So bring those paintbrushes and guitar that you’ve covered for a long time; signup for an online tutorial of the skill that you wanted to learn for a long time and boost up your confidence.
Charge yourself up
Lockdown has changed the way we do everything like schooling, socializing, and even food habits. Nowadays we do not have an option to go for dine-outs, movies, or malls to take off the stress. Lockdown has given us more time to spend quality time with our loved ones. I prefer playing board games with my sons to have fun together and also that keeps them away from mobiles for a while. Hold virtual meetings to meet with your friends and loved ones. You can’t thank enough to the internet at this time which keeps us so connected with each other in spite of staying far.
Track your progress
With your planned days, if you are making a mistake of not tracking your progress, you can be the prey of this leisure time to waste it instead of utilizing it. Goal setting and keeping track of it regularly keep you motivated and productive. Have an accountability partner and share your goals with them so that you feel more connected to it. Mark your progress on a calendar and award yourself when you achieve something that you are proud of.
We all know that coronavirus will be here for a while with us. But the show must go on, so we need to deal with it smartly. Use this time in favor of you and be a little more powerful every day.
